Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast DVD (2005) combines a high energy cardiovascular workout with a body sculpting, strength and
conditioning routine.
For those familiar with Denise Austin's fitness television shows -- Denise Austin's Daily workout and Denise Austin's fit
and lite on lifetime television network -- you won't be surprised by Denise's level of enthusiasm and amount of encouragement
offered in this DVD.
In this DVD Denise Austin exercises along with several twenty-something women giving the workout an aerobics class
feel. While matching Denise's energy and enthusiasm, these ladies make each section of the DVD a bit more hip and
youthful (see screen shots below).
The DVD's interactive menu allows you to select a particular section or a
combination of sections from the scene index. The scene index includes the following:
Warm up - 5 minutes
Cardio Workout - 20 minutes
Strength and Sculpting Routine - 20 minutes
Cool Down - 5 minutes
Warm Up:
Most will start with the 5 minute warm up portion which includes stretches, light marching, and side steps designed to
increase heart rate and prepare you for the more strenuous workout to come.
Cardio Workout:
What Denise Austin calls her "cardio house party" is an attempt to keep her routines fresh and current by borrowing
from whatever the recent workout craze happens to be. This time it appears as if she has drawn inspiration from Turbo Jam, which combines hip dance moves with aerobics. Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast DVD pulls this off fairly well, which shouldn't suprise anyone familiar with her past DVD's and video tapes. Denise Austin has often effectively incorporated variations of moves from popular DVD and video tape titles. Several years ago, Billy Blanks inspired Tae Bo type moves were used in her workouts. More recently, Pilates exercises have been included in her routines. This marketing strategy has worked for her in the past, and seems as if it will work for her as well with Burn Fat Fast - Cardio Dance and Sculpt.
This danced themed cardio workout was energetic and fun. Providing the viewer with enough variety to stay interested
throughout this 20 minute routine.
Strength and Sculpting Routine:
This portion of the DVD focuses on increasing strength and improving muscle tone through the use of light weights.
The first 15 minutes for the most part targets the upper and lower body. The remaining 5 minutes concentrates on
the abdominal area. For those familiar with Denise Austin's fitness show on Lifetime television network, these excerises will be familiar to you with the exception of a few new variations. This section lasts for roughly 20 minutes.
Cool Down:
The last part, the cool down, consists of several stretches for about 5 minutes. This is a fitting end after 40 minutes
of high energy cardio and sculpting.
